For such giant eyes, the porcupine fish are nearly blind. They're nocturnal hunters and, like night-vision goggles, have a rough time seeing in the day when there's so much light. I suppose it's from under-developed irises. At night, if you shine your light at them, they bump into obvious obstacles.
