Indian Lionfish

It seems pretty hard to believe, but Lionfish are ambush predators. Their markings serve two contradictory purposes concurrently. To macro life (big things that can be threatening) the stripes, banners and elaborate quills appear obvious: shouting "Don't come near!" But like looking at a Roy Lichtenstein painting from only inches away, to the small micro life, the garish patterns and coloration become confusing and abstract; something to investigate.
