Sea snakes are quite poisonous, but they have tiny mouths and are not typically aggressive toward divers. They are way too busy hunting. However, we had the unlucky experience of almost stepping on one that was slithering along the beach while we were in Bangka. It was quite startling to see it out of the water. In the water they aggressively hunt in every crevice and hidey-hole they can find. They're beautiful but difficult subjects.
