Underwater scene

Typical reef scene. Those splotches of color in the background are different varieties of soft corals. Two of our dive sites were called Hin Daeng (Red Rock) and Hin Muang (Purple Rock) after the color of the soft corals that completely carpeted them. Here, you see both in one shot. Unlike most of the images shot underwater in this album, this one was shot without using a flash. Instead, a custom white-balance was created to compensate for the missing reds. The human eye does the same thing underwater, so this better approximates what a divers sees.
